The Sacking of Rome

by Francisco Javier Amérigo (1842-1912)
The work is inspired by the Saco de Roma , which was carried out on May 6, 1527 by the Spanish and German troops of the Emperor Charles I of Spain, and represents a group of soldiers looting and profaning the interior of a Roman church. (1887)
