Narbonne, France
Travelling by train to Bordeaux we had to stop in the lovely French town of Narbonne. We absorbed as much as we could with only 22 hours before our onward journey. We certainly were tempted to stay longer.
We were able to visit most of the recommended sites but it wasn’t at a frenzied pace. In fact we stopped for a leisurely glass of rosé wine and a cheese plate followed by a light and creative salad and salmon tartar that we shared. Ahh, the delicious french food!
Peñíscola
We have often said we wanted to visit Pensacola, Florida but that has not yet happened. Instead we find ourselves on a Regional Express train heading north to Peñíscola, Spain to celebrate our anniversary. What a wonderful few days we had.
Albufera Natural Park
Everyone we know in Valencia has been telling us that we had to visit Albufera. Separated from the salty Mediterranean Sea by only a narrow strip of land, Albufera is a freshwater lagoon and estuary less than 7 miles south of the city of Valencia. An easy day trip by bus for 1,50 Euros each way.

The History of Silk in Valencia
We initially did not understand that there are two separate sites promoting Valencia’s historical silk industry. One is the The Lonja de la Seda, or Silk Exchange, used as the center for commerce in the silk trade, the second is the Silk Museum.

The Town and Castle of Xàtiva
We decided to branch out this week and take a train to the town of Xàtiva in the province of Valencia. Catching a train from the city seems easy enough but there are always those little details that come back to bite you – little details that locals take for granted, but are missing from every article we read.
Lladro, Botanical Gardens and Museums
This week we visited the Lladro Boutique and Factory. Wow! Their figurines are simply beautiful. We walked another 25 miles or so trying to catch the last few sites of Valencia before we head off on new adventures. With our anniversary coming up (special plans), a trip to Bordeaux, France and then more cities in Spain, we will surely have more new adventures to share.
