Reliquary figure

XIXth century. Wood, lamellae and plates of brass and copper.
These figures are symbolic representations of ancestors. They were placed upright in baskets containing human relics. Grouped under shrines and sanctuaries away from the villages they were also used in initiatory dances as puppets.
