If you are familiar with Lladró and their porcelain figurines, you may be able to imagine what lay in store inside the Lladró Boutique Museo. Oh my goodness! Such beautifully crafted porcelain work!
Lladró was founded in 1953 by three brothers, Juan, José and Vicente Lladró, in a village near Valencia. According to our tour guide, it is the last remaining porcelain factory in Europe creating 100% hand made pieces. We were told that their artists have worked at Lladró for a minimum of 20 years and many have worked 40 years and more.
This statement was posted on a wall inside Lladró :
“We want our works to be elegant, expressive, to exude life and have feelings. We want them to reflect the good of life, the positive values of all human beings, and all things which dignify life.”
Juan, José and Vicente Lladró
In our opinion, the porcelain pieces we saw, certainly met those goals. It was indeed a challenge to not add a delicate piece or two or three to our already overstuffed suitcases.
